Occasionally, you may need to force close the CBS All Access app to resolve streaming issues if the app freezes, or if you see a black screen or loading image when you try to watch content. Find out how to force the app here:

iPhone or iPad
iPhone X and later

  1. From the homescreen, swipe up from the bottom of the screen pausing slightly in the middle of the screen.
  2. Swipe right or left to find the CBS app, then swipe up on the app’s preview to close the app.

Older iPhones

  1. From the home screen, quickly press the “Home” button twice. A list of running applications should now show on the screen.
  2. Simply swipe up on the app to close each app's background task (this will also save battery life on your mobile device).
  3. Press the home button again to return to the home screen and relaunch the app.

Apple TV
Force close the CBS app
4th Generation

  1. While on the home screen, double-click the “Home” button on the Siri Remote. 
  2. Swipe up on the touch surface to force close all current apps open.

3rd Generation

  1. Press and hold the “Menu” button on the remote to force close the CBS app, 
  2. Relaunch the CBS app.

Android phone ot tablet
Force close the CBS app 

  1. From the home screen, tap the hamburger menu (three lines) at bottom left of the screen.
  2. Now swipe up to close the CBS app (and other apps) OR click “Close All” to exit all open apps. You can now relaunch the CBS app.

Android TV
Force close the CBS app 

  1. From the CBS app home screen, select Settings, then Apps.
  2. Select the CBS app, then click Force Stop.  
  3. Relaunch the CBS app to resume streaming.

Amazon Fire TV or Kindle
Force close the CBS app with these steps

  1. From the Amazon home screen select Settings, then Applications
  2. Select Manage Installed Applications, then click the CBS All Access app
  3. Click Force Stop, then Launch Application to restart your device. You can now resume streaming!

Roku Streaming Player
Restart your Roku

  • Roku player: Go to Settings, then System, then System Restart. 
  • Roku TV: Go to Settings, select System, then Power, then System Restart. 

You can also unplug the Roku device from the power source, wait a few moments, and then reconnect it.

Relaunch your TV

  1. Turn off the TV, then unplug it from the power source for 30 seconds.
  2. Re-connect the power source, turn on the TV, and relaunch the CBS app.

Samsung TV
Restart your TV

  1. Press and hold the Power button on the Samsung TV for 5 to 8 seconds to restart the TV.
  2. Once the TV turns back on, relaunch the CBS app.


Vizio TV
Force close the CBS app:

  1. On the Vizio Smart TV remote, hold down the "Back" button to restart the app. If you do a quick hold (by holding it down halfway), it will display the exit menu.
  2. Relaunch the CBS app.


Restart your device 

  1. Press the Xbox button to open the guide. Note: Pressing the “Xbox” button will open the guide from any other screen on the console.
  2. Select Settings, then select Restart Console.
  3. Select Yes to confirm and restart your device.


Portal TV
Perform a power cycle

  1. Disconnect the power cord from the back of the device or from the power outlet for 15 seconds, and then plug it back in.
  2. Relaunch the CBS app


Xfinity Flex
Perform a power cycle

  1. Unplug the device from the power source, and wait several 15 seconds, then plug it back in.
  2. The device automatically turns on when plugged in, then relaunch the CBS app.
