How do I stop these popup notifications on my screen?

If you are seeing CNET popup notifications on your computer screen or on your Android phone, you may have accidentally allowed CNET site notifications in your web browser while visiting our site in the past. You can easily stop these notification from appearing on your device by following the steps below.

For Android device using Chrome browser:

  1. On your Android device, open the Chrome app.
  2. Go to the website you don’t want to receive notifications from.
  3. To the left of the web address, tap Lock.
  4. Next to "Notifications", tap the Down arrow and choose "Block"

For computers, please follow the instructions for each of the browsers listed below.

For Google Chrome:
  1. On your computer, open Chrome.
  2. At the top right, click on the 3 dots and then go to Settings.
  3. At the bottom, click Advanced.
  4. Under "Privacy and Security", click Content Settings.
  5. Click Notifications.
  6. Look for in the "Allow" list
  7. Click on the 3 dots to the right of and select "Block"
For Mozilla Firefox:
  1. On your computer, open Firefox.
  2. At the top right corner, click on the menu icon and choose Options.
  3. On the left column, click "Privacy & Security."
  4. Scroll down to the "Permissions" section.
  5. Go to Notifications and click Settings.
  6. Look for in the list and on the right of it there is a Status column with a drop down menu to either Allow or Block.

  8. To save your changes, click on "Save changes" button on the bottom right corner of the window.
For Apple Safari:
  1. On your computer, open Safari
  2. Click on "Safari" located at the top of the browser
  3. Click on "Preferences" in the menu (or press Command-Comma)
  4. Click on Notification tab
  5. In the website list, look for CNET
  6. Select "Deny" for CNET
These steps above should ensure that you will no longer see CNET site notifications.
