It’s always a good idea to ensure your device is running the latest software version, especially if you’re having trouble streaming content. Just select your device for instruction about how to check or update your software.

iPhone or iPad
To check your software version:

  1. From your device’s home screen, go to Settings
  2. Select General
  3. Select About. The software version of your device should appear on this screen.


To update your software:

  1. Tap Settings > General > Software Update
  2. If updates are available, tap Download and Install

 

Apple TV
To check your software version:

  1. From your device’s home screen, go to Settings
  2. Select General, and About. The software version of your device should appear on this screen

 

To update your software:

  1. From your device’s home screen, go to Settings
  2. Go to System> Software Updates and select Update Software.
  3. If an update is available, then click Update Now
 

Android phone or tablet 
To check or update your software version:

  1. From your device’s home screen, select Settings
  2. Tap About Phone (or About Tablet). You’ll see your device’s version is located under Android version.
  3. Under Status, you’ll see both your IP address and device ID 
  4. Click System Updates to update your software version.

 

Android TV (Google Nexus, Nvidia Shield)
To check your software version:

  1. From your home screen, select: Settings > General > About
  2. Your Apple TV version will display


To update your software version:

  1. From your home screen, select: Settings > System > Software Updates
  2. Next, select Update Software, then click Update Now to update your software.


Amazon Fire TV or Kindle
To check and update your software version:

  1. From the Amazon home screen, select Settings, then My Fire TV
  2. Select About. The software version will display on the right panel.
  3. Select Check for System Update to update your software version.

 

Roku
Your Roku player will automatically search for new updates and install them when available. You can also manually check or update your software:

  1. From your Roku home screen, select Settings > System > System Update
  2. Next, select Check Now to check for updates.
  3. You’ll see the current software version, the date and time of the last update, and confirmation that your software is current.

 

Portal TV
Your Portal TV will automatically search for new updates and install them when available. You can also manually check or update your software:

  1. From the home screen, tap Settings.
  2. Tap About.
  3. Tap Check for Updates. If an update is available, a download will automatically begin.


LG TV
LG Smart TVs will automatically check and run the latest version of both firmware and software. You can also manually check or update your software:

  1. Press Settings on your remote, then select All Settings.
  2. Choose the General menu on the left.
  3. Scroll down and select About this TV.
  4. Ensure that Allow automatic updates is checked, then select the Check for updates button. If an update is available, follow the on-screen instruction to download it.

 

Vizio TV
Vizio TVs are designed to automatically install software updates while the TV is on and connected to the internet. You can also manually check or update your software: 

  1. Press the Menu button on your remote control.
  2. Scroll down, and select System.
  3. Select Check for Updates

 

Samsung TV
Samsung TVs will automatically install software updates while the TV is on and connected to the internet. You can also manually check and update your software:

  1. Press the Menu button on your remote control.
  2. Scroll down, and select Support.
  3. Select Software Update, then select Update Now. Your software update will install.
  4. Select Auto Update to turn this feature back on (if it’s off).

Note: If the TV has just been switched on, the Software Update option may be greyed out. Simply wait a minute and try again. If you’re in the Smart Hub, exit this area. 

 

Xbox
To check your software version:

  1. Press the Xbox button to open the guide.
  2. Select Profile & Systems > Settings > System > Console Info. You’ll see your software version displayed.

To manually update your software:

  1. Press the Xbox button to open the guide.
  2. Select Profile & Systems > Settings > System > Updates.
    • Under Updates, you’ll see:
      1. Console update available. Click this to begin your software update
      2. No console update available. This means your console is up to date.


PlayStation 4
To check your software version:

  1. From your PlayStation home screen, press UP on the d-pad to navigate to the top menu, select Settings, and press X on the controller.
  2. In the Settings menu, scroll down, select System and click X on the controller.
  3. in the system menu, select System Information at the top of the page. You’ll see the software version displayed on this page.

To update your software: 

  1. Repeat step 1 above.
  2. In the Settings menu, scroll down and click System Software Update, and press X on the controller.
  3. Select Next. If an update is available, the version number will be displayed on the screen.
  4. Select Accept to agree to the software licensing agreement. Your PlayStation will install the update.
