For each supported device or platform, use the steps below to manage closed captions and/or audio description accessibility features.


Desktop, Laptop and Mobile Web
While the video is playing, click the “CC” icon in the top right corner of the video player. To turn on closed captions, click an option under the “Subtitles” section. To turn on audio descriptions, click an option under the “Audio” category. To turn either feature off, just click the option again.

iPhone/iPad
While the video is playing, click the “CC” icon in the top right corner of the video player. To turn on closed captions, click an option under the “Subtitles” section. To turn on audio descriptions, click an option under the “Audio” category. To turn either feature off, just click the option again.

Apple TV
There are two ways to turn on accessibility features:

1. Ask Siri
  • While watching a video, press and hold the Siri button  on the remote.
  • Next, tell Siri to "Turn on Closed Captioning." 
2. Through the Apple TV menu
  • Go to Settings > General > Accessibility.
  • Select Closed Captions and SDH and turn On.

For each option, "CC" icon will take you to the Subtitles and Audio page, where closed captions or audio descriptions can be enabled.

Android (phone & tablet)
While the video is playing, click the “CC” icon in the top right corner of the video player. To turn on closed captions, click an option under the “Subtitles” section. To turn on audio descriptions, click an option under the “Audio” category. To turn either feature off, just click the option again.

That's it!


Android TV
While a show is streaming, use the middle round button on the Android TV controller to bring up the video control, then select the blue “CC” button. You’ll now have access to closed caption and audio options.

If you’ve selected the “CC” button by accident, just select it again to turn this feature off.


LG TV
There are several ways to turn on closed captions

From Video Player

  1. Select your desired show.
  2. Click the "CC" button. Closed captions will turn on.

If you'd like to format closed captions: 
Select Settings in the main menu, then Closed Captions, and select the desired style of closed captions. 

On the LG Remote Control or via LG settings on your LG TV

  1. Select the Settings button on the LG remote, or if you're on the home screen, select the Settings icon in the upper right hand corner. 
  2. From the Settings menu, select "Accessibility".
  3. Under Closed Caption, select "On".

To format closed captions:

  1. Select "Digital Mode Options" to change the style of the closed captions.
  2.  Next, choose a size, font, color or other options.

Note: Audio descriptions are not available on this device. 


Samsung TV 
To turn on closed captions, select the "CC" button next to Watch Now. Please note that audio descriptions are not available on this device. 
 

Vizio TV 
There are several ways to turn on accessibility features: 

On your Vizio TV

  1. Select your desired show
  2. Click the "CC" button that appears next to the "Watch Now" button on your Vizio TV screen. 
  3. To turn on closed captions, click an option under “Subtitles”. To turn on audio descriptions, click an option under “Audio”. 

Via the Vizio SmartCast menu on your remote

  1. Power on your display and select the Menu button on your IR Remote. 
  2. When the sidebar menu appears on your screen, scroll down and select Closed Captions.
  3. To turn on closed captions, click an option under “Subtitles”. To turn on audio descriptions, click an option under “Audio”. 

On the Vizio Remote Control

  1. Simply press the "CC" button. You can now select an option under "Subtitles" for closed captions or "Audio" for audio descriptions.


Xbox One 
There are two ways to turn on closed captions. Note: Audio descriptions are not available on this device.

While streaming live TV

  • Press on the View button on your controller to enable closed captions

While streaming video on demand or live TV

  • On your Xbox One, press the Xbox button on your controller to return to the dashboard, then:
  1. Select System > Settings.
  2. Choose Ease of Access, and then select Closed captioning.
  3. Turn closed captioning on or off and set a custom style.


PlayStation 4 
To turn on closed captions, use any of the options below. Note: Audio descriptions are not available on this device.

While streaming live TV

  • Press on the back  button on the PS4 controller to enable closed captions. 

For streaming all video (live TV, on-demand video)

  • From the PS4 Quick Menu, go to Accessibility > Closed Captions. 
  • Check the box for Display Closed Captions.


Roku
You can turn on closed captions with these steps:

  1. Press the home button on the Roku remote to go to the home screen, then scroll down to Settings in the Roku menu (not the CBS channel menu)
  2. Select Accessibility, then Captions Mode.
  3. On the right hand side of the screen, you'll see the option to turn on your closed captions. Select "On".

Note: The Captions Mode menu options may change slightly, depending upon the Roku model. 


Amazon Fire TV
There are two ways to enable closed captions in Fire TV:

Option 1

  1. With the CBS All Access app open, select "Settings". 
  2. Scroll right to "CC Closed Captions".
  3. Select "Display", and turn On.

Option 2

  1. Select a CBS show. 
  2. While the show is streaming, use the middle round button (menu button) on the Fire TV controller to bring up the video control.
  3. Select the blue CC button.

For audio descriptions, follow the same steps for closed captions, and select an option under the “Audio” category.


Facebook Portal TV 
While a show is streaming, use the big round button at the top of the Portal TV controller to bring up the video control. Select the “CC” button*. To turn on closed captions, click an option under the “Subtitles” section. To turn on audio descriptions, click an option under the “Audio” category. To turn either feature off, just click the option again.

*If you’ve selected the CC button by accident, and does not want closed captions on their screen, all they need to do is select the CC button again.


Xfinity Flex 
There are two ways to turn on closed captions:

For VOD:

  • Select the CC  button OR press ZERO on the Flex remote

For live TV:

  • Press ZERO on the Flex remote

To format closed captions, select Settings in the main menu, then Closed Captions. Select the style of closed captions. Note: You cannot turn on closed captions via your Flex device settings, audio descriptions are not available on this device.
