How do I clear my web browser's cache to improve video quality?
Clearing your cache can help with re-buffering and choppy video and will release any errors held in your browser’s cache memory. For most web browsers, you can open menus used to clear your cache, cookies, and history by pressing Ctrl-Shift-Delete (Windows) or Command-Shift-Delete (Mac). If this doesn't work, please use the instruction for your browser below:
In your browser bar, enter this address: chrome://settings/clearBrowserData . In the dialogue box that appears, check "Cached images" and "Cookies and other site data". Next to the "Clear the following items from" section, use the dropdown menu to choose the time period for which you want to clear cached information. To clear your entire cache, select "the beginning of time". Click the "Clear browsing data" button. Close all windows and restart the browser.
Mozilla Firefox: From the History menu, select Clear Recent History. If the menu bar is hidden, press Alt to display it Click "Time range to clear:" and from the drop-down menu, choose "Everything". Next to "Details", click the down arrow and check the boxes next to "Cookies" and "Cache". Click the "Clear Now" button. Close all windows and restart the browser.
Microsoft Edge: In the top right, click the icon that looks like three horizontal lines. Click the "History" icon, and then select "Clear all history". Select "Browsing history", then "Cookies and saved website data", and then "Cached data and files". Click "Clear". After the "All Clear!" message appears, close all windows and restart the browser.
Safari (8+) : From the Safari menu, select "Clear History and Website Data...". Select the desired time range, and then click Clear History. Go to Safari > Quit Safari or press Command-Q to exit the browser completely.
Safari (7 and under): From the Safari menu, select "Reset Safari...". Select the items you want to reset, and then click Reset. As of Safari 5.1, Remove all website data that includes both cookies and cache. Go to Safari > Quit Safari or press Command-Q to exit the browser completely, then restart the browser.
