CBS All Access Support

I'm seeing a message to disable my ad blockers or enable pop-ups to stream video. How do I do this?



If you have either ad blockers enabled or pop-ups disabled on your browser, you may experience issues streaming video or you may be unable to stream altogether. Just follow the instructions below specific to browsers supported for CBS All Access. 

Chrome: Disable AdBlock/AdBlock Plus 

To disable AdBlock in Chrome:

  1. Click on the AdBlock icon on the top right of your browser. A drop-down menu will appear.

  2. Click Don’t run on pages on this domain.

  3. Once clicked a pop-up will appear. Click Exclude and the page should refresh.

  4. If necessary, refresh the CBS page as well.
     

To disable AdBlock Plus in Chrome:

  1. Click the Chrome Menu icon  from the browser toolbar.

  2. Highlight the More Tools menu, then click Extensions from the sub-menu.

  3. Uncheck the Enabled box that appears next to the Adblock Plus entry.

Chrome: Allow Pop-Ups

In Chrome, you can allow pop-ups from a specific site (i.e., CBS.com):

  1. On your computer, open Chrome.

  2. Find a page that has pop-ups blocked for you.

  3. In the address bar, click Pop-ups blocked.

  4. Click the link for the pop-up window you'd like to see.

  5. To always see pop-ups for the site, select Always show pop-ups from [CBS.com] > Done.



Firefox: Disable AdBlock/AdBlock Plus

Please note that Firefox no longer supports AdBlock, only Adblock Plus. However, if you still have AdBlock, use the steps below.

To disable AdBlock in Firefox:

  1. Click on the AdBlock icon on the top right of your browser. A dropdown menu will appear.

  2. Click Don’t run on pages on this domain.

  3. Once clicked a pop-up will appear.  

  4. Click Exclude and the page should refresh.

  5. If necessary, refresh the CBS page you were viewing.

To disable AdBlock Plus in Firefox:

  1. Click on the AdBlock Plus icon (Red stop sign with ABP written on it  ). A dropdown menu will appear.
  2. Click Disable on CBS.com.

  3. The page and video should re-load. If not, click the "re-load" icon on the address bar.

Firefox: Allow Pop-Ups

In Firefox, you can allow pop-ups from a specific site (i.e., CBS.com):

  1. Click the menu button and choose Preferences

  2. Select the Content panel

  3. In the Content panel below Pop-Ups, click on the Exceptions… to open a dialog box.

  4. In the dialog box, you can specify which websites (i.e., CBS.com) are allowed to open pop-up windows.

  5. Type www.cbs.com and then click Allow.  



Microsoft Edge
To disable AdBlock in Microsoft Edge:

  1. Select the More actions (…) button and select Settings.

  2. Scroll down the list to select View advanced settings and turn Block pop-ups to Off.

Microsoft Internet Explorer 11: Disable AdBlock/AdBlock Plus

For Microsoft Internet Explorer 11 (this is the only supported IE version):

  1. The AdBlocker or AdBlocker Plus extension symbol appears on the IE status bar* as a "Stop" symbol with the letters "AB" or "ABP" within.  Ex: 

  2. While on the CBS.com video page the user is attempting to view, left-click the symbol and select Disable on www.cbs.com.

  3. The page and video should re-load.  If not, click the "re-load" symbol on the address bar.

*If you do not see your status bar in IE, it may be hidden. Simply right-click the toolbar, then put a checkmark next to the "Status Bar" option shown in the drop-down menu. Your status bar should display with the ABP symbol at the bottom of your page.

Safari: Disable AdBlock/AdBlock Plus

To disable AdBlock/AdBlock Plus in Safari:

  1. Open up your Safari browser.

  2. Click on Safari located in the menu bar of your browser and select Preferences. The Preferences window will be displayed.

  3. Click on the Extensions button. A list of all extensions you have installed to Safari will appear.

  4. Navigate to and click on AdBlock/AdBlock Plus in the list of extensions in the left pane.

  5. Toggle the On button to Off in the Preferences window. AdBlock/AdBlock Plus will then be temporarily disabled, until the customer decides they want the extension re-enabled.

Safari: Allow Pop-Ups

Allow Pop-ups in Safari for Mac

  1. Open Safari.

  2. In the top left corner of the window, click Safari.

  3. Click Preferences in the dropdown menu.

  4. Click the Security tab.

  5. Under Web content, uncheck Block pop-up windows.


Allow Pop-ups in Safari for PC

  1. Open Safari.

  2. Click on the Settings icon in the top right of the window.

In the dropdown menu, uncheck Block Pop-Up Windows.


Please Note: If you still have trouble after disabling ad blockers or allowing pop-ups on Microsoft Edge, IE or Safari, you may need to consider using Chrome or Firefox
